Shanilka Heath

I am a registered psychologist who enjoys working with both adolescents and adults.

My approach to therapy is grounded in patience, compassion, and deep respect for each person’s unique journey. I understand that opening up can feel vulnerable, so I focus on building a strong, trusting relationship where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported, without pressure or judgment.

I began developing my clinical skills working as a secondary school psychologist, which gave me a strong foundation in supporting young people through issues such as anxiety, school stress, identity development, and social challenges.

I also have several years of experience working with adults, including NDIS participants and individuals with complex mental health needs. In addition to this, I regularly support adults who are facing the everyday challenges that come with work, relationships, identity, stress, or major life transitions.

I draw on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy and trauma-informed practice.

I am experienced in working with the following presentations:

  • Anxiety
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Mood disorders (including depression and bipolar)
  • Eating disorders
  • School-related stress
  • Work-related stress
  • Relationship problems & Couples Counselling
  • Personality disorders (including borderline personality disorder)
  • Family violence trauma
  • Substance-use disorder
  • Adjustment Disorder
  • OCD

Assessments and Reports

In addition to therapy, I also provide psychological assessment and report writing services. This includes:

  • Cognitive assessments
  • Diagnostic assessments
  • Reports for NDIS access and reviews
  • Reports for Disability Support Pension (DSP) applications

Assessments can offer valuable insights into cognitive functioning, emotional well-being, and diagnostic clarity, and are often useful in guiding further support or formal applications for services. If you’re unsure whether an assessment is right for your situation, feel free to get in touch to discuss your needs.
